Most dog grooming rakes have fine and wide teeth that are good for removing dead hair, dirt, and debris from your dog’s coat. Rakes with plastic or metal teeth can help reduce shedding and make your dog’s coat look shiny and healthy. Rakes with long teeth can help reach deep into your dog’s coat to remove loose hair.
An undercoat rake is a tool that is designed to remove the undercoat of a dog. The undercoat is the layer of fur that is closest to the skin and is often the source of shedding. Undercoat rakes come in various sizes and shapes, but they all have one goal: to remove the undercoat without damaging the topcoat. There are a few things to consider before using an undercoat rake on your dog. First, make sure that the rake is the right size for your dog. If the rake is too small, it could damage the topcoat.
The FURminator is a grooming tool that is used to remove loose hair from a dog's coat. It can be used on all types of coats, but it is not recommended for use on very short coats or on coats that are already damaged. The FURminator can damage a dog's coat if it is used improperly or if the coat is already damaged.
Yes, you can over brush a dog's undercoat. This can cause the undercoat to become matted and can lead to skin irritation. It is important to brush the undercoat gently and to only brush it when necessary.

I don't often write reviews, and this one was actually not requested. My elderly neighbor had to pelt her long-haired cat because she was unable to properly care for it. I took her in (one big mat) and started carefully shaving her with a grooming shaver. Even though I'm not at all skilled, YouTube has saved my life. I removed 90% of the mat, but she grew weary of this after doing some of it over the course of two days and became quite combative. The comb I ordered is AMAZING! After one comb out, her hair is already starting to look better, and she adores it. She told me if I was doing it incorrectly when I reached a mat, to gently wiggle the comb and carefully pull the hair straight out, as opposed to at an angle. Except for her hair, she has two locations that I need to attend to again tomorrow. She has removed all of the old undercoat, and her coat is glossy. I think this is the most practical item I've ever bought for my animals. To be safe, I'm purchasing another in case this one disappears. I also combed my dogs. Despite having a clipper cut, I still received a good deal of undercoat from them. Only move slowly. At first, it seemed to be a love/hate relationship, but after five minutes, Miss Diva became addicted. I'm overjoyed. Update. Images from day 4. She still has hair in her undercoat, which I am removing. At least this much of her coat can still be combed in with one sweep. Before we were finished for the evening, the pile had doubled. HER FAVORITE.

AMAZING!!!!! very best Currently, we have two Australian Shepards, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old. Previously, we also had one. We have struggled for years in an effort to remove the undercoat. Our 3-year-old has bear-like hair! I perused reviews and numerous You Tube videos. This year, I pondered getting a short clipper cut because I was in a bind and had trouble effectively removing the undercoat in previous years. Of course, the purpose of taking off the dog's winter coat was to help it cool off. I discovered a video that advised against clipper-cutting your dog. The secret is taking off the undercoat. My prayers have been answered by the PawsPamper Extra Wide undercoat rake, 20 tooth. I appreciate Amazon offering this product and providing the reviews and information. The undercoat simply comes out when you apply short strokes. Again, this tool is BEYOND AMAZING!!!! The teeth are rounded on the ends so you do not have to worry about them scratching the dogs skin as a slicker or other metal tooth brushes and combs do. It is the most crucial grooming item you may have, hence I find it unusual that it is not sold in pet stores to my knowledge. We had doubts about whether it actually worked. We had a massive pile of hair that we were unable to remove with any previous tool within 10 minutes of the first stroke, WOW. The item is really nicely crafted and is worth its weight in gold. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to do it for this, and if you have a dog with an undercoat, you will adore it. It certainly deserves a 10 star rating, therefore my only regret is that I can only offer it a 5 star rating. MANY THANKS, PAWSPAMPER! Both our dogs' and our lives have been changed by you!

My big Maine Coon cat loves this tool. His fur is matted and tangled in various places, particularly on his hips and lower back. If your pet has knots and matting, this tool is great for removing only the undercoat. It is not meant to be used for routine pet fur upkeep. For your daily brushing regimen, I advise using a FURminator. I discovered that using short strokes beginning at your pet's head will make the comb operate the best. Do not pull or yank at a mat or knot because you risk hurting your pet. Lightly comb over the mat or knot and in its vicinity. The mats will slowly get smaller thanks to this tool. Being careful when combing cats is advised because their skin is thinner and it may make Fluffy uncomfortable. It will pull at your pet's fur. Only comb for two to three minutes at a time to prevent making your cat angry. Fluffy needs a lot of downtime in between sessions. The first few times you use it, especially if you don't routinely groom your pet, the fur will fly everywhere. Simply deal with it and make sure to vacuum when finished, or avoid a mess by misting a little water or dematting spray. When you receive your comb, you'll observe that the sides are not all the same. There are more teeth on one side than the other. Use the side with fewer teeth initially, then swap to the opposite side. My cat seems to benefit more from it and experience less stress. Last but not least, do not anticipate that this equipment will eliminate all of your pet's mats or knots in a single session or day. The majority of the matting and undercoat must be removed over the course of several sessions and days.

The extent of my love for this brush is beyond words. My cat suffers from numerous physical and mental problems. She struggles to groom her back because she has chronic miliary dermatitis. She particularly despises it after taking a calming bath. The worst bath I've ever taken. She had mats running the length of her spine. She was going to need to get her head shaved, and I was really worried. I was concerned that I would aggravate her skin even further. Fortunately, I chose to use this brush first. Omg. worked flawlessly. She didn't seem to enjoy being brushed, but I knew that going in. She performed her licking ritual. But I managed to remove all of her mats! I'm happy it spared us from a further trip to the vet or perhaps a traumatic shaving. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this product to anyone with pets with long hair!

Finally! My six-year-long guilt over not maintaining the cleanliness of my most challenging cat is over! The GoPets Dematting Comb delivers on its promises!"Whisper" was given up by her mother when she was a five-week-old kitten. On our property, we discovered her under a shrub where she was attempting to eat the tiniest branches. She came at the wrong time. In their final months, four of my old cats needed frequent IVs to keep their kidneys functional. We were unable to place her. She had no mother, and the only regular care she received came from a second relative who had recently moved in. This young cat was quite intelligent, and as I looked after the elder cats, she tried to comfort her. She developed from the tiniest kitten I had ever seen to a large, obese adult who hadn't been touched by people frequently enough to recognize when our attempts to groom her injured her. I bought so many different kinds of cat combs and brushes for her in the vain hope that I'd find one that actually did what its makers said it would, but every purchase was quickly put aside. Every time we attempted to make Whisper more comfortable by attempting to remove the mats from the areas of her body where her size prevented her from doing self-grooming, Whisper would unfailingly bleed us. (Whether her size is due to metabolic issues that our veterinarian couldn't identify, or whether it's a condition brought on by missing out on her mother's care during the last few weeks of her life, or from the time we weren't able to give her the attention she needed... those are things we'll never know. Whisper is still a mystery, although she is a really loving cat.)I was eager to give this GoPets comb a try as soon as it was delivered. Whisper was sound asleep, sprawled out on our sofa. She started purring as soon as I roused her from her sleep and started stroking her hair with the comb's largest teeth. Whisper really righted her body, got up, and remained in place as opposed to leaping up and bolting or tolerating it for a few seconds before smacking me with opened claws. When the comb went through her extra-thick hair, her back arched in glee. She maintained her composure and kept presenting each uncombed area of her body to me for further combing rather than trying to avoid the comb by moving it away from me. This has never happened before, so I was astounded!I was able to switch to the side of the comb with the closer teeth and re-start the body grooming procedure to get rid of the last bits of her matted hair. She seemed so content as she continuously purred.I'm thrilled that I've finally figured out how to put an end to the pain Whisper has been in for so long. I put a lot of effort into trying to show her the additional care and love I wish I could have given her when she was abandoned by her family at such a young age. When she jumped into my chair for warmth and care, my attempts to make her more comfortable with various combs and brushes had always ended on a sad note when she'd abruptly lash out at me in agony and then bolt suddenly out of my reach. It was difficult for me to deal with the shame I felt for making what ought to have been a lovely moment into one that hurt her physically. Now, instead of being upset, she now lets me groom her from head to tail while purring nonstop until the task is over, at which point she settles down by my legs and nods out. She now has a better appearance, and her irritability when stroked or even just groomed is finally gone. I've been searching for this subject for years. I urge any cat owner to try it!

Amazing product: the FURminator Dog Rake. How effectively it works on the coat of my German Shepard amazed me. Since it's been getting hot, he's been shedding a lot, and the floor is covered with fur. This rake eliminated a lot in a charming manner. The process of removing the fur from the rake is similarly quick and simple. The nicest thing is that it makes my dog genuinely happy to be brushed by it! He has never objected to brushing, although he usually only puts up with it for a little while before giving me the "Let me go" look. He waits patiently with the rake, even leaning into it. I think he perceives it as a satisfying scratching. My cranky, elderly, obsessive cat, on the other hand, despises it. She detests most things, though. However, it also does a fantastic job on her, particularly in the mat-prone parts of her coat.To cover the bristles when not in use, the rake comes with a black hat. I like it since it keeps it clean and safeguards it for storage.

This is the first matt tool or comb I've ever owned, and it's fantastic. My large schnauzer doesn't shed; in fact, I've never found a single hair in my home from him. I purchased this since his groomer mentioned that he was becoming matted on his most recent visit and recommended an actual de-matting tool because simple brushing was ineffective. He has the typical schnauzer cut, which includes full legs and a belly, a long beard, and a shaved top. This comb thins down his hair and eliminates all potential mats in his hair. I have so much hair that it actually appears like he lost five pounds. It's incredible how much "dead hair" it gets rid of; once I'm done, he looks glossy and shiny. The tips are not very long, so occasionally I do have to pull harder than I like to in order to get it through his thicker portions, which is my sole complaint and the reason for a 1 point drop (hair is upwards of 4-5 inches long). The tool head's width is ideal; nevertheless, longer comb prongs are required for a huge breed.

Stunningly exact, crazily deliberate, and furrrrociously consistent. This item could trim Grizzly Adams' beard with one swift motion, rip a squirrel-sized patch from a lion's mane, and assist you in climbing the Himalayan mountains to fulfill your ambitions of greatness. The Cold War-era Russian dictator who built and designed it in Serbia originally intended for it to serve as a tether for sled dogs, but the metal proved to be too strong and tore through the harnesses. They soon realized that with the appropriate structure, this device could extract any fur (including the bulky, tough-skinned Wolverine of North America), dissolve any type of cohesive link, and scare your torture victims (tried it once). Never leave the house without your Furminator Adjustable deMatter or Swiss Army Knife.
Yes, undercoat rakes can work on short hair, but they are not as effective as they are on long hair. Undercoat rakes are designed to remove the undercoat of a dog, which is the layer of fur that is closest to the skin. This layer of fur is typically much thicker and coarser than the topcoat, and it can be difficult to remove with a regular brush. An undercoat rake has teeth that are spaced further apart than a regular brush, which makes it easier to remove the undercoat without damaging the topcoat.
An undercoat rake is a tool that is used to remove the undercoat of a dog. The undercoat is the softer, downy fur that is found underneath the topcoat. The undercoat rake has teeth that are spaced apart, which helps to loosen and remove the undercoat without damaging the topcoat.
The best way to get your dog's undercoat out is to brush them regularly. This will help to loosen and remove any dead hair and debris that has become trapped in their coat. It is also important to bathe your dog regularly to help remove any build-up of dirt and oils that can cause their coat to become matted. If you find that your dog's undercoat is particularly matted, you may need to seek the help of a professional groomer to safely remove the mats.
Most dog breeds need to be deshedded at least once a week to prevent matting and to keep their coat healthy. Some breeds may need to be deshedded more often, depending on how fast their hair grows.
Assuming you are asking how often you should undercoat your dog's fur, the answer depends on the dog's breed, coat type, and the climate you live in. For example, a dog with a thick coat living in a cold climate may need to be undercoated more often than a dog with a thin coat living in a warm climate. Generally speaking, you should undercoat your dog every few months.
Assuming you are referring to dog grooming, undercoat raking is a process of using a special tool to remove the dead undercoat from a dog's coat. This helps to reduce shedding and keep the coat healthy. How often you need to undercoat rake your dog depends on the type of coat they have. For example, dogs with double coats may need to be rake a few times a week, while those with single coats can usually get away with being rake every couple of weeks.
